It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of William Gatch, a young man of just 23 years, who tragically lost his life in a hiking accident on Tuesday, April 6, 2026. The incident occurred at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut, while William was enjoying a day outdoors with his sister. His untimely death has left family, friends, and the community in deep mourning.

William was born on October 24, 2002, to Mr. Jason Ashley and Dr. Delena Bell Gatch. Though his life was short, those who knew him remember a young man full of vitality, kindness, and a zest for life. He shared close bonds with his family, and his presence brought warmth and joy to those around him. William’s passing is a devastating blow, and his loved ones are grieving the loss of a vibrant life with so much potential.

Family members, including his second cousin Kurt and extended relatives, are currently coming to terms with this sudden tragedy. The funeral will be held on Saturday at Kurt’s church, and due to the arrangements, some family members will unfortunately not be able to attend the Family Reunion as planned. This loss, combined with a few other recent family tragedies, has left the family in urgent need of support, prayers, and comfort.
